Overview
Telangana Grameena Bank (TGB) is a Scheduled Bank owned by Government, operating with the same stature and regulatory standards as any Public Sector Bank in India. The Bank offers a full range of banking services and financial products, on par with commercial banks, with a strong focus on rural and inclusive banking.
Background & Evolution
Telangana Grameena Bank was originally established on 24th March 2006 as Deccan Grameena Bank through the amalgamation of four Regional Rural Banks sponsored by State Bank of Hyderabad. Subsequently, as per Government of India notification dated 20th October 2014, the Bank was renamed as Telangana Grameena Bank.
Following the amalgamation of associate banks, the sponsor bank was changed from State Bank of Hyderabad to State Bank of India (SBI) with effect from 01.04.2017.
Phase-IV Amalgamation – ONE STATE, ONE RRB
As part of the Government of India’s initiative under the “One State – One RRB” policy, branches of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) in Telangana were merged with TGB.
- 435 branches of TGB (including service branch)
- 493 branches of APGVB (Telangana region)
With effect from 01.01.2025, this formed a unified network of over 928 branches across all 33 districts of Telangana, making TGB a truly statewide rural banking institution.

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE, CATEGORISATION OF POSITIONS AND SPAN OF CONTROL
- The Chairman shall be the administrative head of the Bank and shall exercise overall control over all aspects relating to its functioning. The Chairman shall be responsible to the Board for all the affairs of the Bank.
- The General Manager (HR, IT & Board) shall oversee Human Resources, pension administration, and training activities. The role shall also include management of IT and digital banking products, including ADC reconciliation, and coordination of Board-related matters.
- The General Manager (Compliance & Risk) shall be responsible for risk and compliance functions, including establishing a Risk & Compliance vertical across the Bank to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements at all levels. The role shall also include submission of statutory and periodical returns related to business.
- The General Manager (Business – I) shall oversee advances, deposits, and Assets under Management (AUMs) across designated regions. The role shall include business planning, NPA recovery, and Customer Value Enhancement activities to drive growth and performance.
- The General Manager (Business – II) shall oversee advances, deposits, and Assets under Management (AUMs) across designated regions. The role shall include business, planning, NPA recovery, and Customer Value Enhancement initiatives to strengthen business operations.
- The General Manager (Financial Inclusion) shall be responsible for promoting and implementing financial inclusion initiatives across the Bank.
- The General Manager (Operations) shall oversee accounts, TDS, and taxation functions, along with investments. The role shall also include management of premises, fixed assets, and stationery.
- The General Manager (Vigilance) shall be responsible for vigilance, preventive vigilance, and legal functions. The role shall also include handling complaints received from Ombudsman, RTI, whistleblower mechanisms, and other sources, including cases from consumer forums.
- The Chief Manager (Audit) shall be responsible for audit functions, including scrutiny of RFIA audit reports and any additional audit-related responsibilities.
